Principal's Report
Dear School Community
Our P&C recently held their AGM. Thank you to Lisa Bechly who has taken on the position of President. Angela Devlin will again act as vice-President and both Lisa and Angela will make a great team, backed up by Emily Champ, as Secretary. The P&C is needing a Treasurer ASAP. Our P&C is a small but enthusiastic group who are all busy parents. Please contact Lisa, Angela or Emily if you can assist.
Thanks to Ngaio Deer who has stepped down as Treasurer. Ngaio has been Secretary and then Treasurer for many years. She cultivated a keen connection with "Hogs at Harlin", a visiting motorcycle group that supported fundraising by the P&C. Ngaio was responsible for the Mother's Day stall each year, encouraging students to use their mathematics skills as shopkeepers. On behalf of staff, parents and students I extend our thanks to Ngaio for her years of selfless volunteering.
Staff have been buoyed by a keen response to our 'Catch-ups'. When parents connect the importance of education with their children, we see a respect and appreciation for our work. Attendance every day and all day, is a priority.
Our mantra is being added to with 'Be Here." It is only when children are in attendance that we can impart our professional knowledge. We are often asked if we can provide work for missed days. Unfortunately, it is not that easy. Knowledge comes through listening, responding, arguing, refining, discussion, comprehending and practice. This happens in our classrooms every day. It can't be replicated in a worksheet. For your child to be the best they can be, attendance needs to be every day, and all day.
Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Resilient, Be Here!
A lovely story from the Lennon family. Kip was helping a stranded motorist during the day. The gentleman was deaf and unable to communicate with Kip. Kip relayed this issue to Harlan and Austin. The family walked to visit the gentleman who was staying in town. Both Harlan and Austin stepped in with AUSLAN and the stranded motorist was overjoyed that the boys could assist with communication between himself and the family.
Students nominated to read and take notes of a novel for Readers Cup. Students are now expected to read and make notes of a novel distributed this week. This is required on Monday 15 April. A team will then be selected on the quality of note-taking.
What a great effort by our students in the Cross Country today. Well, done to our House Captains Reece and Ollie for leading the Roos and Dingoes. Congratulations to Roos (89-87) who won by 2 points! All students were awarded a participation point for their team. Points were also given for sportsmanship, House chants and placings. Thanks to our P&C for providing the pizza lunch and for preparing a lolly bag for each child. Thanks also to our parents who jumped in to help with our pack-up.
On behalf of staff, we wish you a safe and happy Easter break and hope you have the opportunity to spend some relaxing time with your family. I wish our very hard working staff the chance to recharge batteries and take a well-deserved break. Happy Easter to you all.
Mrs Jo McCormick
Principal and class teacher.
Prep - 4 News - Mrs Packenham and Ms Fisher
It’s been a busy fortnight in the P-4 room, completing our tasks before end of term. We’ve made pavlovas for our English unit, completed our Data assessment for Maths and cracked out our Science assessment! Students have also completed reading and spelling screeners in preparation for next term’s learning.
We’ve also had fun with lots of Easter activities!
We wish all our families are safe, happy, and healthy Easter break. See you all next term!

Year 4-6 News - Mrs Mac and Ms Fisher
Year 5 and 6 were visited by Mr Shane Lampard, Pest Management Officer with the Somerset Regional Council. Shane was impressed with our knowledge of the school issues in regards to Mother of Millions, Cats Claw and Lantana. We have a huge job ahead to get on top of these invasive species and it's great we have our students on board. We are using the resources provided by Shane in our reading groups. In particular, we are using conjuntions, because, but and so to indicate our understanding of the text. This will assist with the informative text unit coming up in term 2.
We had a fabulous roll-up for our Student-Parent-Teacher Catch-ups. Thank you for your time and suggestions.
Audiences were entertained and persuaded by animated product sales in the 5-6 classroom. Students developed a 'sales pitch' connected to their chosen product. It was great to see the enthusiasm for the English task this term.

Update on your School Photos
Multiple photos were taken of each class and the best overall photo has been chosen and printed. If we were unable to capture your child smiling in the chosen photo, this means that we couldn’t use the magic of photoshop as they didn’t smile in any of the photos taken. Photoshop will also have been done on uniforms, if necessary.
If you have any queries about your order or to order other photos, please contact Donna at email countryschoolphotos@gmail.com (email is preferred) or 0429 405 418.
Thank you for your support.
We enjoyed photographing your children and are proud to have been a part of recording history for your family and school.
Kind regards
Paul & Donna Webb
