Where Did Term 3 Go?
It’s incredible how quickly 10 weeks fly by, and now we’re heading into the final term of 2025!
It was wonderful to connect with so many parents during our Week 10 interviews. These conversations are key to ensuring you have a clear understanding of your child’s progress relative to year level expectations, their effort, and behaviour. If you missed your interview due to your child’s illness, please feel free to arrange a catch-up appointment during Week 1 of Term 4.
Our Term 3 Physical Education focus was line dancing — and what a fantastic time it was! Congratulations to the families who joined in and well done to both current and past students who took part. Looking ahead, Term 4 will feature swimming lessons starting in Week 7, with the exciting possibility of surfing for competent swimmers in Years 4–6.
Today, year 5 & 6 competed in soccer and netball at TSHS. A big thankyou to parents who have provided transport for the Friday afternoon sport sessions. This is not something that can be financed by the school and would be very costly for parents. Mrs Carey has been our contact for most Friday afternoons, and some have been on a volunteer basis. We appreciate this assistance.
The playground will open in Term 4, with a new shade cloth scheduled for installation over the holidays. Our goal is to keep the grass lush and inviting for when we return after the break. Keep an eye out for an official invitation to the playground’s opening event.
On Thursday, our Instrumental Band delivered a stellar performance in a multi-school ensemble. Their resilience throughout the challenges of Term 3 is truly commendable — well done, musicians!
As the warmer weather approaches, please remember to send your child with a water bottle every day. We’re pleased to offer a refrigerated bubbler for easy refills to keep everyone hydrated.
On behalf of all the staff, we wish you a safe and restful school holiday. If you have the opportunity to travel or unwind, enjoy your break! We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, 7 October. Best wishes to our students recovering from a recent virus and we hope you are better soon.
Kind regards,
Jo McCormick
Principal and Class Teacher

Ms Carey and Mrs Enks for helping Mrs Philp with the Student Council BBQ.
Amanda and Jason Weare for operating the Line Dancing BBQ.
Mrs Blackmore for watering over the holidays.
Kelsey for helping out with tuckshop Pizza Day.

Year P - 3 News

We did it! Presenting your best work, takes time and resilience. Our English task was a great challenge to build levels of resilience. Checking, editing and finalising takes perseverance. Nailing the ending or conclusion is the final act of trying your best!
Our chicks are heading home to Mr Glover. They have been a wonderful encouragement to get our tasks completed!
We have had lots of fun down in Ivory Creek. Today, was a great day for getting wet!
Our major maths task has been completed with Year 3 to catch up on fractions in Term 4.
Next term, we head into persuasion for English. Your child will be writing letters to you in an effort to persuade you to do or purchase an item. While the prize might be 'Pie in the Sky" we look forward to your replies. Check out 'I Wanna Iguana' https://youtu.be/KQzTEEMG5x8 for some tips.
Thanks to parents who attended our Parent/Teacher/Student interviews. It is very important you know where your child is situated compared to their year level, before the year is over. There are no surprises when you have a good understanding of your child's progress.
Looking forward to a busy and fruitful term 4. Swimming starts in Week 7, so we have 6 weeks to have most of our tasks completed.

Year 4-6 News - Ms Fisher

Well, that’s Term 3 done and dusted.
Students have completed their fantasy narratives. Check out the pictures of them engaging in some peer conferencing. It was great to hear the conversations – some were particularly interesting and detailed. The dialogue diet had some impact… students were able to demonstrate some other language features as well, such as alliteration, similes, expanded noun groups, and ‘showing, not telling’.

In Maths, students have completed their work with measurement. Along with the usual measurements of length, mass, capacity and temperature, students have studied perimeter and area of rectangles, dealt with angles, matched 3D shapes with their 2D nets and analysed what it takes to make a net. We’ve completed two of the three assessments for Term 3. There is one problem-solving task which will carry over to Term 4.
Students enjoyed our Science/Technology challenge of designing a security device and making a protype. Circuits didn’t always work the first time, so there was some head-scratching and problem-solving involved.
Wishing everyone a safe and relaxing holiday. See you all next term.
Ms Fisher

Line Dancing

Instrumental
Today (Thursday Sept 18) saw Harlin State School instrumental music students travel to Toogoolawah State School, and join with students from Toogoolawah SS, Linville SS and Toogoolawah SHS to perform.
After rehearsing together, we saw the TSHS Stage Band perform ‘Superstition’. Then the TSHS Concert Band and the TSS Senior Band performed ‘Alpha Squadron’ and ‘Byzantine Dances’. Blake, Cleo, and Eliza even stepped up to rehearse those two pieces with the high school!
After that, we saw the choir from TSHS perform ‘Eternity’ and Miss Graham highlighted all of the instruments that are available in the Instrumental Music Program, plus some extra special ones that are at the high school.
Finally, Harlin students joined in, and we all formed a Super Band, with approx. 75 students from the four different schools, and boy, didn’t we have a fabulous sound to match!!
First, we performed Chilli Bean. Alex and Harlan rocked the bass line, and Bella’s ostinato helped the disco feel! Kacey held us all together with the tambourine.
Next, we played Muster Time. Eithan joined the other flute players from TSS to play the delicate flute melody while Austin and the other beginners accompanied Blake, Cleo and Eliza playing the main melody.
Mrs Gilbert (Regional Instrumental Music Coordinator) and Mrs Logan (Brisbane Valley Cluster Coordinator) were very impressed with everyone’s behaviour, musicianship, and professionalism! Miss Graham was also very impressed with our fabulous sound and loved that students were watching the conductor!!
We would like to thank the parents that came to watch our performance. It was wonderful to see you.
Check out our photos below. Thank you to Latoya Thomson for the photos while Miss Graham was busy conducting

Ball Games
So lovely to have Linville join us for our ball games and a yummy sausage sizzle.
It was fantastic to see the great sportsmanship between the teams. It was a very hot afternoon, so a cold ice cream was a nice treat to end the day.
Congratulations to the Dingoes for being the overall winners.

PLANT STALL
Sadly, we have had quite a lot of plants stolen in the last couple of weeks. Most people are amazing and really support our plant stand. Unfortunately, it's only a few who know how to ruin all the hard work.
New Signs going up……Please don’t steal.
CONTAINERS FOR CHANGE
Containers were picked up this week. $204.20 coming our way.
SAUSAGE SIZZLE
Massive Thank You to-
Katie and Cassie who picked up the sausages and bread.
Megan, Latoya and Kate for serving and of course our wonderful chef Karly for perfect onions and snags.
CRAZY SOCK DAY
We raised $28.00. Thank you for your support and it was so much fun seeing all the wonderful socks.
Sadly, we didn’t get photos of everyone.
Together we do great things.
